Poʻaha Giving Circle

Pōʻaha Giving Circle Grant Application Available

Through AAPIPʻs GET AND GROW program Pōʻaha has secured $20,000 in funding to be distributed to projects that meet Pōʻahaʻs mission to encourage Native Hawaiian youth to seek academic and social excellence through providing financial support to individuals and groups to participate in gifted and talented programs, travel opportunities, workshops, conferences, and related activities.

Anyone who is applying for a Give Get Grow grant must also submit a 3-5 minute video that identifies the individual, organization, or event who is seeking funding, what the funding will be used for, and how Pōahaʻs support of that activity will enhance either the individual, organization or community. Videos will be posted on the Kamaʻaha website and must be received by the grant deadline.

Pōʻaha is the first AAPIP Giving Circles in the State of Hawaiʻi.  Giving circles encourage philanthropy in our communities. Small groups of people pool their resources to effect positive change.

Beginning in 2012 Pōʻaha has raised $40,000.00 and has distributed that funding to worthy projects such as sending eight middle school students to travel to Washington DC, sending entire middle school to Molokaʻi for a cultural research exchange and this year sending fifth grade students to Oʻahu in order to study limu and loko iʻa at Heʻeia Fishpond.  Give a little today. Make a BIG difference tomorrow.
